Discover Nexity's sobriety plan around 4 axes

    • 4 minutes

In order to reduce France's energy consumption by 10% in two years, and in the meantime to ensure that the country makes it through the winter without any gas or electricity cuts, Nexity is rolling out its sobriety plan and committing to immediate action.

As we believe in the need for a low-carbon, inclusive and resilient city, we are convinced that energy sobriety must be sustainable and affordable. It can neither be a simple temporary approach, nor can it only concern those who can afford it.

Nexity therefore intends to be both exemplary in its own locations by relying on its employees and be a sponsor of sobriety for and at the service of its customers, with the implementation of an energy shield and the deployment of "Essential" real estate.

With ambitious decarbonisation pathway, Nexity, a global real estate operator, is already committed to long-term actions along a continuum that goes from existing real estate, treated in terms of rehabilitation, transformation of use, low-carbon management and energy renovation, to new real estate, through affordable low-carbon buildings using efficient construction processes and materials, or even the concept of the "Essential" building, with no need for air conditioning or heating.

OUR IMMEDIATE ACTIONS

Creation of a Nexity "shield" for our clients

From the beginning of October, our individual clients will be informed of the measures taken to reduce the energy consumption of our agencies, to encourage them to take simple eco-actions and to share the link to the Ecowatt website by inviting them to register.

  •  Support for our condominium managers to enable each of them to carry out additional actions for the condominiums for which they are responsible:

-with the boiler room service provider to reduce energy consumption,

-with the union council for the heating period,

-with the General Assembly for the separate payment of heating costs.

  •  Sending eco-actions to our residential clients.
  • Sharing with our private clients specific and relevant eco-actions according to their needs, with proposals for specific actions on alert days.

    Internal exemplary measures

    Monitored sites:

    • Heating: switching off the heating at 6pm; reducing heating temperatures at night and at weekends; reducing the heating periods left to employees; heating domestic hot water at night; anticipating heating times outside the morning peak periods;
    • Lighting: reduction of the lighting schedule, optimisation of lighting in car parks and traffic areas;
    • Other consumption: switching off large equipment not used at night and forcing the shutdown of equipment connected to the remote network every evening at 10pm.

    During Ecowatt alerts: reduction of the heating temperature.

    In our 200 agencies:

    • Heating: Reducing heating temperatures during the day; lowering heating temperatures during the night and at weekends (16° if programmable heating); scheduling agency heating times before 8am.
    • Illuminated signs: switch off lights, display windows and illuminated signs at least between 10pm and 6am.

      During Ecowatt alerts: heating temperature reduction; turning off lights, display panels and lighted signs between the last employees leaving in the evening and the first ones arriving the next day.

      For our employees :
    • Internal awareness plan to get our employees on board
    • Poursuite de nos actions sur les déplacements de nos collaborateurs (politique voyage, crédit mobilité, IK vélos...)

      OUR LONG-STANDING AND LONG-TERM ACTIONS

      Promotion of sobriety

      Nexity has been committed for a long time to decarbonising the real estate industry and reducing the consumption of its resources. The Group's carbon pathway has been monitored since 2015 and the ambition was raised at the beginning of 2022 by aiming for a certified 1.5°C pathway. This leads to targets of a 42% reduction in 2030 vs. 2019 per m2 delivered for the carbon footprint of the real estate business (life cycle of operations), i.e. a target that is 10% more demanding than that of the new 2020 environmental regulations (RE2020).

        Focus on materials and building methods

        Nexity is committed to the carbon performance of its real estate development projects, both in terms of energy and construction methods, and has extended the use of other construction processes and materials: re-construction wood, low carbon wood and concrete, bio-based materials, soil-based building materials...

        This is particularly true of certain large-scale operations that are both full-scale experiments, serving as a pilot for the rest of its residential and tertiary production, and an incentive for the building materials industries, which are key stakeholders in these projects. This is the case, for example, for the Porte de Montreuil, which will be a zero-carbon district, or for blocks B1 and C1 in Lyon Confluence, where Nexity will build an "essential" building without heating or air conditioning.

          Deployment of low-carbon management and eco-renovation offers for Nexity clients

          As a global real estate operator, Nexity also carries out many actions through its service activities to decarbonise assets: energy renovation of existing portfolio for its individual clients, but also low-carbon management for its commercial clients. These two priorities are a key part of the Group's climate strategy, with targets of 150 eco-renovated condominiums (i.e. 10,000 eco-renovated housing) and 3.5 million square meters of low-carbon management by 2025.
